What is a disposable PE visitor coat?
A disposable PE visitor coat is a single-use over-garment made from polyethylene (PE) film rather than non-woven fabric. Where a PP non-woven visitor coat is breathable but only splash-resistant, a PE coat is fully waterproof — the continuous film blocks water, fluids and fine sprays completely. It is the right choice when a visitor or worker must stay dry and clean in a genuinely wet environment.
The coat is cut like a lab coat — a shirt collar, a front opening secured with press studs and long sleeves — but the whole garment acts as a fluid barrier. It slips on over ordinary clothing, keeps the wearer protected from splashes and run-off, and is discarded after the visit. Because PE film is inexpensive and packs flat, it is an economical way to give every wet-zone visitor reliable waterproof cover.
Why PE film for wet and fluid environments
Non-woven fabrics breathe by letting air pass through the web, which is comfortable but means heavy liquid contact eventually wets through. Polyethylene film has no such pathway — it is impermeable, so liquids bead and run off the surface. This makes the PE visitor coat suited to abattoirs and meat-processing rooms, fish and seafood handling, wet food-processing and washdown areas, and hospital or veterinary wet zones where fluids are routinely present.
The trade-off is breathability: a PE coat is less airy than non-woven, so it is best for shorter wet-task visits rather than long shifts in warm rooms. Where the priority is keeping a visitor or auditor dry and contamination-free in a wet area, the complete fluid barrier of PE is exactly what is needed.
Style, size and construction
The coat has a shirt collar and a front placket closed by three pairs of press studs, which fasten and release quickly without tools — convenient for a stream of visitors at a wet-zone entrance. The cuffs are left open (rather than elasticated) so the coat pulls on and off easily over normal or work clothing. It is supplied in white, at a generous one-size 120 × 130 cm cut that fits over most adults and their existing clothing.
Each coat weighs about 30 grams. The PE film is welded and assembled to give a continuous, leak-free barrier across the body and sleeves. Being a single moulded-feel film garment, there are no fabric fibres to shed, which is an added benefit in food and processing areas.
Packaging and supply
Each PE visitor coat is sealed in an individual polybag, then grouped ten pieces to a middle bag, with twenty middle bags to a carton — two hundred coats per carton in total. The middle-bag structure keeps stock tidy and lets a site break out smaller quantities to entrance or washdown points without opening the whole carton.
