What are disposable shoe covers?
A disposable shoe cover, or overshoe, is a single-use slip-on worn over outdoor or work footwear to keep contamination from being carried across a clean floor — and to keep the floor's contamination off the wearer's shoes. It is pulled on at the threshold of a controlled area and discarded on the way out, so dust, mud, fluids and micro-organisms never cross the line. Because it is used once, it removes the cost, laundering and barrier-loss problems of dedicated theatre footwear or cleaned overshoes.

A waterproof CPE film cover handles wet and dirty floors; a PP non-woven cover with a CPE-coated sole stays breathable on top while sealing the underside against fluid; and a heavier non-skid PP cover adds grip and durability on smooth surfaces. All three use an elasticated opening that grips the ankle for a secure, universal slip-on fit.
The three variants and their materials
The CPE shoe cover is made from clear or blue CPE (chlorinated polyethylene) film, typically 15×35 cm or as required, weighing 1.8–4.5 g per piece. It is fully waterproof and made by machine or by hand, packed 100 pieces per bag and 20 bags per carton — the right choice for wet floors, fluid splashes and short, clean-and-dirty crossings.
The PP non-woven + CPE-coated sole cover combines a breathable PP spunbond upper with a waterproof CPE layer on the sole, sized 16×42 cm at around 5 g per piece, machine made, 100 pieces per bag and 10 bags per carton. The breathable top reduces sweat on longer wear while the sealed, non-slip sole keeps fluids out and adds grip. The non-skid PP shoe cover is a heavier blue PP cover at 16×42 cm in 35 g or 40 g weights, machine made, 100 pieces per bag and 20 bags per carton — built for tougher anti-slip duty and more robust, longer-distance walking.
Fit, grip and floor protection
Every variant uses an elastic band around the opening so one universal size fits over a wide range of shoe and boot sizes, with the band gripping the ankle to stop the cover slipping off mid-stride. The lighter CPE and PP + sole covers prioritise fluid resistance and economy; the 35–40 g non-skid PP cover prioritises grip and durability, with a textured or heavier sole that resists sliding on polished, tiled and laminate floors.
The choice comes down to the surface and the task. For a brief shoe-in at a furnished property or a clean office, a light cover protects the floor and the shoe. For an operating theatre, cleanroom or lab, the priority is keeping particulate and fluid out of a controlled zone. For a wet, slippery factory floor, the heavier anti-skid cover keeps staff safe underfoot while still protecting the surface.
Packaging and bulk supply
Shoe covers are supplied flat-packed in bags of 100 pieces, with 10 to 20 bags per carton depending on variant, so a single carton covers a high volume of entries — practical for site offices, theatre complexes and cleanroom airlocks where covers are used by the box every day.
