A PE-coated isolation gown is a single-use protective gown made from PP non-woven laminated with a polyethylene film, giving a fluid-resistant barrier that blocks liquid strike-through. WinHyCare supplies these gowns with a tie-on neck and back closure and knitted, elastic or thumb-loop cuffs — the practical step up from plain non-woven for contact, droplet and fluid-heavy nursing tasks.

Why choose this pe-coated isolation gown

  • PP non-woven laminated with a polyethylene (PE) film for genuine fluid resistance
  • PE layer blocks liquid strike-through that a plain spunbond gown would let through
  • Tie-on at the neck and back with a wrap-around panel for secure coverage
  • Choice of knitted/elastic cuff or thumb-loop cuff to hold sleeves under gloves
  • Standard yellow for high-visibility isolation coding; blue or white on request
  • Supplied non-sterile in bulk cartons; ideal for contact and droplet precautions

What is a PE-coated isolation gown?

A PE-coated isolation gown is a disposable protective gown built from a PP non-woven base fabric that is laminated with a thin polyethylene (PE) film. The non-woven gives the gown its drape, softness and tear strength, while the PE film forms a continuous plastic barrier on the surface that liquids cannot pass through. The result is a gown that feels close to an ordinary non-woven gown to wear but resists fluid like a coated garment.

Its purpose is to protect staff during tasks where contact with blood, body fluids or other liquids is likely — the situations where a plain PP isolation gown would let fluid wick or strike through to the uniform underneath. WinHyCare supplies it as the middle tier of the isolation range: more protective than a breathable PP gown, more comfortable and economical than a fully laminated CPE gown, and well matched to contact and droplet precautions on the ward.

Barrier performance — how the PE film works

On a plain spunbond gown, liquid sitting on the surface can eventually penetrate the fabric, especially under pressure or when an area is wet for a sustained period. The laminated PE film on this gown removes that path: it is a non-porous plastic layer, so splashes, sprays and pooled fluid bead on the surface and run off instead of soaking through. This makes the gown fluid-resistant and a sound choice for fluid-heavy nursing, patient screening, intake and isolation work.

The trade-off is breathability — a coated gown is warmer than an uncoated PP gown because the film also limits air and moisture-vapour transfer. The fabric weight is approximately 25–45 gsm, balancing barrier and comfort. Where a fully impervious, waterproof gown is required for the highest-risk contact, WinHyCare's CPE gown (a solid cast-polyethylene film) is the next step up; where breathability matters more than fluid resistance, the plain PP isolation gown is the lighter alternative.

Style, cuffs and sizing

The gown is a tie-on design, fastening at the neck and the back so the wrap-around panel overlaps to cover the back of the uniform. At the wrist you can choose a knitted or elastic cuff, or a thumb-loop cuff — the thumb loop hooks over the thumb to stop the sleeve riding up the forearm, keeping the sleeve end tucked under examination gloves for an unbroken barrier during active tasks.

Standard sizes are 115×137 cm and 120×140 cm (width × length), and other dimensions can be made as required. The generous free-size cut fits most adults over normal clothing, so a single stock item serves a whole department and keeps procurement simple.

Packaging and supply

PE-coated isolation gowns are supplied non-sterile, packed 10 pieces per bag in bulk cartons, which keeps the cost per gown low for high-volume isolation and screening use. The standard colour is yellow — widely used to flag isolation and contact-precaution gowning — with blue or white available on request.

PE-Coated Isolation Gown — Frequently Asked Questions

What is a PE-coated isolation gown made from?
It is made from a PP (polypropylene) non-woven base fabric laminated with a thin polyethylene (PE) film. The non-woven gives drape and strength while the PE film forms a continuous plastic barrier that liquids cannot pass through, at approximately 25–45 gsm.
How is it different from a plain non-woven isolation gown?
A plain PP gown is breathable but only splash-resistant, and liquid can eventually strike through the fabric. The PE film on this gown is non-porous, so fluid beads and runs off rather than soaking through — making it the right choice for fluid-heavy nursing and contact or droplet precautions.
Is the PE-coated gown fully waterproof?
It is strongly fluid-resistant and blocks liquid strike-through across the coated area. For a fully impervious, waterproof gown for the highest-risk contact, choose our CPE isolation gown, which is a solid cast-polyethylene film with thumb loops.
What is a thumb-loop cuff and why choose it?
A thumb-loop cuff has a small loop that hooks over the thumb to stop the sleeve riding up the forearm during active tasks. It keeps the sleeve end tucked under examination gloves for an unbroken barrier. A knitted or elastic cuff is the alternative.
Are the gowns sterile, and what sizes and colours come standard?
They are supplied non-sterile as standard (EO-sterile on request). Standard sizes are 115×137 cm and 120×140 cm, or as required, and the standard colour is yellow, with blue or white available on request.
What is the minimum order and how do I get a price?
These are a bulk B2B item sold by the carton (10 pieces per bag in bulk cartons), so pricing depends on weight, colour, cuff type and order volume. Send us your specification and quantity and we will provide a quotation, with volume pricing for larger and tender orders.
Can WinHyCare supply PE-coated gowns across India, the Middle East & Africa?
Yes. WinHyCare is a Dubai-headquartered supplier and exporter; PE-coated isolation gowns and the full disposables range are delivered to hospitals, clinics, labs and distributors across the Middle East, Africa and India — exported from our Dubai HQ and warehouse, with India service via our Hyderabad centre, with stock at our Dubai HQ and warehouse for larger orders.
Are these gowns suitable for surgery?
No. PE-coated isolation gowns are for isolation, screening and fluid-heavy nursing, not for sterile operative use. For the operating theatre choose our reinforced, EO-sterile SMS surgical gown with knitted cuffs and a back-tie closure.
