Platelet Incubator with Agitator (20–24°C)
A platelet incubator with agitator keeps platelet concentrates at 20–24°C while its shelves oscillate continuously, so one cabinet does the work of a platelet agitator and a temperature-controlled incubator. WinHyCare designs and supplies two models: the WPI-5 for 5 bags and the WPI-10 for 10 bags, both with digital temperature control, temperature and power-failure alarms and a UV disinfection lamp. Platelets are stored at room temperature, not in a refrigerator, and need continuous gentle agitation during storage. There are two ways to provide that:
- Stand-alone platelet agitator. Moves the bags but relies on the room holding 20–24°C. It suits air-conditioned rooms with stable temperature control.
- Platelet incubator with agitator. Encloses the agitator in a cabinet that controls 20–24°C itself and alarms on excursions. The WPI-5 and WPI-10 are this type.

What is a platelet incubator with agitator?
It is a single cabinet that holds platelet concentrates at 20–24°C while oscillating shelves keep the bags in gentle, continuous motion. Blood centres also call it an incubator cum agitator. WinHyCare WPI-5 and WPI-10 combine the incubator and the platelet agitator in one unit.
Is a platelet agitator the same as a platelet incubator?
Not always. A stand-alone platelet agitator only moves the bags and depends on the room staying at 20–24°C. An incubator with agitator controls the temperature as well, which matters in Indian summers when room temperature can exceed 24°C.
How many platelet bags do the WPI models hold?
The WPI-5 holds 5 bags and the WPI-10 holds 10 bags. Both have the same 20–24°C control, oscillating shelves and UV disinfection lamp.
What alarms do the platelet incubators have?
Both models have temperature alarms and power-failure notification, with digital microprocessor control of the 20–24°C range.
