A disposable surgical gown is a sterile, fluid-resistant SMS non-woven garment worn over scrubs in the operating theatre to protect both the surgical team and the patient. WinHyCare supplies reinforced surgical gowns with knitted cuffs, velcro neck and back-tie closure in antistatic, anti-blood, water- and alcohol-resistant fabric, sized S–XXXL and packed one per sterile pouch.
Why choose this disposable surgical gown
- Triple-layer SMS (spunbond–meltblown–spunbond) gives a breathable yet fluid-resistant bacterial barrier
- Reinforced front panel and sleeves for high-fluid and longer procedures
- Knitted cuffs, velcro neck and four inner/outer waist ties for a secure aseptic fit
- Antistatic, anti-blood, water-resistant and alcohol-resistant non-woven fabric
- Ultrasonic, double-stitch and overlock seams for strength and low linting
- Supplied sterile (EO) in individual peel pouches, or non-sterile in bulk cartons
What is a disposable surgical gown?
A disposable surgical gown is a single-use sterile garment worn by surgeons, scrub nurses and theatre staff over their scrubs during operative procedures. Its job is twofold: to protect the patient from micro-organisms shed by the surgical team, and to protect the team from blood, body fluids and other potentially infectious material. Because it is used once and discarded, it removes the laundering, sterilisation and barrier-degradation risks associated with reusable cloth gowns.
WinHyCare surgical gowns are made from SMS (spunbond–meltblown–spunbond) non-woven fabric — a three-layer structure where the dense meltblown core filters particles and resists fluid strike-through while the spunbond outer layers add strength and a soft, low-lint surface. The gown is cut full-length with a wrap-around back, set-in sleeves, knitted cuffs and a secure tie system so the wearer can maintain a sterile field from gloving to closure.
Material and barrier performance
The standard fabric is SMS at 30–45 gsm, with heavier SMMS, SMMMS and spunlace options up to 70 gsm for procedures that demand a stronger critical-zone barrier. The fabric is antistatic (important near oxygen and electrosurgical equipment), anti-blood and resistant to water and alcohol-based fluids, so surface splashes bead and run off rather than soaking through to the scrubs beneath.
Reinforced gowns add an extra impervious or film-laminated layer across the chest and forearms — the 'critical zone' most exposed to fluid during surgery — making them suitable for orthopaedic, cardiac, trauma and other high-fluid cases. Standard (non-reinforced) gowns are ideal for routine and minor surgery where fluid exposure is lower.
Construction, fit and comfort
Each gown is assembled with ultrasonic bonding, double stitching and overlock sewing for seam strength without needle holes that could leak. Knitted cuffs grip the wrist so surgical gloves can be cuffed over them, and a velcro tab at the back of the neck plus four waist ties (two inner, two outer) let the wearer be tied in aseptically by a circulating nurse. Back-side folding means the gown can be donned without touching its outer sterile surface.
Despite the barrier, SMS breathes — reducing heat build-up during long lists — and the fabric is soft and quiet in movement. Sizes run from S to XXXL so every member of the team gets a correct, unrestrictive fit.
Sterile packaging and supply
Surgical gowns are supplied sterile, sealed in an individual peel-open pouch (often with a hand towel) so the scrubbed-in user can present them onto the sterile field, or non-sterile in bulk for facilities that sterilise in-house. WinHyCare delivers in cartons of 50 (or as required) with batch coding, and can supply gown packs and custom kit configurations for tender and high-volume hospital procurement. Products are supplied to ISO 9001 / ISO 13485 quality standards and designed to meet the barrier expectations of Indian hospital infection-control programmes.
