What are vinyl (PVC) gloves?
Vinyl gloves are disposable examination gloves moulded from PVC (polyvinyl chloride) plasticised into a soft, flexible film. They are ambidextrous — the same glove fits either hand — and completely latex-free, which makes them the standard choice wherever natural-rubber protein allergy is a concern for staff or patients. As a synthetic film they are also free of the manufacturing accelerators that can irritate sensitive skin.

Powdered and powder-free options
Vinyl gloves are offered in two finishes. Powdered gloves carry a light dusting of food-grade cornstarch on the inside that absorbs moisture and lets the glove slide on quickly, which suits high-turnover settings where speed of donning matters. Powder-free gloves are washed and chlorinated or polymer-coated instead, leaving no powder residue — preferred in food handling, electronics, beauty and any clinical task where powder could contaminate a surface, a sample or a wound.
Both versions are non-sterile and intended for single use. Because vinyl does not stretch like latex or nitrile, sizing matters: choosing the right size from S to XL gives the best dexterity and reduces the loose fingertips that come with an oversized glove.
Sizes, weights and colours
Vinyl gloves come in S, M, L and XL to fit most hands, and in a range of film weights — approximately 3 g, 4 g, 4.5 g, 5 g and 6 g per glove. The lighter weights are the most economical and suit brief, low-stress tasks such as food service and light cleaning; the heavier weights give a thicker, more durable film for longer handling and where a little extra puncture resistance is wanted.
Three colours are available: white for general clinical and laboratory use, blue as a visible, easily inspected option for food handling, and black for beauty, salon, tattoo and automotive work where a darker glove looks neater and hides staining.
